plantain flower tamarind curry /vazhaipoo pulikuzhambu

Ingredients:

Plantain flower/vazhaipoo        –    1
onion                                         –     1 medium
(small onions add more taste if u prefer using it add 12)
tamarind paste                            –   11/2 tbsp
cumin powder                           –     1 tsp
chilli powder                             –     2 tsp
salt                                             –    to taste
turmeric                                    –    1/8 tsp
sesame oil                                 –   2 tbsp

Method:

  • In a pressure cooker pressure cook the plantain flower(See Ho w to peel the plantain flower)adding wter salt and turmeric)for 1 whistle

  • Grind onion,tamarind paste,chilli powder,cumin powder into a paste.

  • After the pressure goes of add the ground paste and sesame oil and mix well

  • Again pressure cook upto 1 whistle and open after the pressure goes off.

  • Serve with Rice and papad
