Sesame chutney

Sesame chutney

Ingredients:

Sesame seeds          – 1/2 cup
Shredded coconut   –  1 cup
red chillies              –  2
garlic cloves           –    2
tamarind paste        –  1 tsp
salt                          –  to taste

For tempering:

oil                            – 1 tsp
mustard seeds          – 1/4 tsp
urad dhal                  – 1/2 tsp
curry leaves             – few
red chilli                   – 1 broken into 2

Method:

  • In a pan dry roast sesame seeds until they starts popping up and nice aroma comes off(Keep stirring to uniformly roast it)

  • In a mixer blend sesame seeds ,shredded coconut,garlic,red chillies,tamarind paste and desired salt.
  • Add water and blend it again

  • heat oil and temper with mustard seeds,urad dhal,red chillies.

  • Pour into the ground chutney

  • Serve with idli or dosa


Serves    4-6
