Keeema Kofta Biriyani

Keeema Kofta Biriyani

Keema Kofta Biriyani is an awesome Rice dish in which meat balls are cooked with aromatic spices and blend with Rice.

Ingredients:

Basmathi Rice          -11/2 cup
Coconut milk            -3/4 cup
onion(medium)         – sliced
Tomato                      – 1 finely chopped
Ginger garlic paste   – 1 tsp
Chopped mint           – 1 tbsp
Chopped cilantro       – 2-3 tbsp
Green chili                 -2 slitted
Coriander powder      -2 tsp
Cumin powder           -1/2 tsp
Chili powder               -1/2 tsp
Garam masala             -1/4 tsp
Cinnamon                  -1
Cloves                        -4
Cardamom                  -2
Bay leaf                       -1
star anise                     -1
Pepper corns                – few
Saffron                         -little
Milk                             -1 tbsp
Salt                               -to taste
Oil                                 -11/2 tbsp 

For koftas:

minced meat/keema  -350 g
Ginger garlic paste    – 1 tsp
turmeric                    -1/8 tsp
Coriander powder      -21/2 tsp
Cumin powder            -1 tsp 
Garam masala             -1/4tsp
Chili powder Kashmiri -2 tsp
Chili powder                 -1/2 tsp


Preparation time:15 min
Cooking time:1 hour


Method:

  • Soak basmati rice for 15 minutes.soak saffron in a tbsp of warm milk
  • Marinade minced meat / keema with all ingredients given in for koftas for 10 minutes.Then make it into small koftas

  • In a pot heat water along with cinnamon,cloves,bay leaves,cardamom,peppercorns,star anise.When it comes to rolling boil drain the soaked rice and add to it with adequate salt.Cover and cook until Rice is 80% done.

  • Then Drain the water and keep the Rice aside.

  • In a heavy bottomed kadai heat oil and fry sliced onions until golden

  • Then add ginger garlic paste,green chili,chopped coriander and mint leaves.
  • When the raw flavor goes off add the tomatoes and cook until mushy.

  • Add coriander powder,cumin powder,chili powder ,garam masala and adequate salt  and mix well.

  • Pour coconut milk and little water and let it boil.

  • When it starts boiling slowly arrange the koftas and cover.After  5 minutes carefully turn the koftas and cook again covered for 15 minutes.

  • Add little cilantro .Remove some koftas with gravy and keep it aside.


                                     

  • Top half the Rice over the remaining kofta gravy.Add the removed kofta gravy and top it up with remaining rice.Garnish with cilantro.

  • Cover and cook it in Low for another 12-15 minutes.
  • Slowly Mix the rice thoroughly.

  • Keema Kofta Biriyani is ready.Serve with your choice of Raitha
