🍴 Our Lunch Twist at Hotel Ponnusamy, Brookefields Mall – An Honest Food Experience in Coimbatore

If you’re a foodie visiting Coimbatore, chances are you’ve already heard about Hotel Ponnusamy—a popular South Indian restaurant chain with branches across Tamil Nadu. Their signature Bahubali Thali is the talk of the town, but during our recent visit to Brookefields Mall, we decided to explore their regular lunch menu instead—and it turned out to be quite an unexpected experience!

🌿 The Ambience

Located next to the food court in Brookefields Mall, the restaurant has a traditional yet minimalistic setup. The cement-based seating, classic touches, and warm lighting create a cozy South Indian vibe that stands out from the modern mall atmosphere.

🍛 The Menu & Ordering Experience

The menu features both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options—everything from biryanis to curries, rotis, and thalis. While we skipped their Bahubali Thali this time, we decided to order chicken biryani, non-veg meals, and tandoori roti with kadai chicken.

However, the twist came soon after! When the food arrived, we were surprised to see extra dishes—fish roast, chicken tikka, and chicken 65—which we hadn’t ordered. Though it was a mix-up, they looked so tempting that we almost didn’t mind!

🍗 The Food Experience

The chicken 65 was crispy, flavorful, and perfectly spiced—an instant favorite.
The non-veg meal came with rice, chicken curry, chicken fry, rasam, kesari, yogurt, and omelette. The chicken curry was a standout—comforting and aromatic.

Bhargav’s tandoori roti with kadai chicken was another hit—the roti was soft with a smoky flavor, and the chicken gravy was rich, loaded with capsicum, and delicious.

When my dad’s chicken biryani arrived, it turned out to be plain kuska! But the staff quickly replaced it with proper chicken biryani, which had tender meat, mild spice, and great balance.

💬 Our Verdict

Despite the mix-ups, the overall dining experience was satisfying. The food quality was good, the staff were courteous, and the ambience added a traditional charm to the meal.

If you’re at Brookefields Mall and looking for a hearty South Indian lunch instead of typical fast food, Hotel Ponnusamy is worth a visit.
