papdi lilva curry(Mochai payaru kuzhambu)

Ingredients:

Mochai payaru (papdi lilva)             –     300   g
onion                                                 –     1 finely chopped
Tomato                                              –     2  finely chopped
garlic cloves                                      –     10 -12
curry leaves                                       –     few
tamarind juice                                   –    1/2 cup
oil                                                      –   2 tbsp
salt                                                     –   to taste
turmeric                                             –   1/4 tsp
chilli  powder                                    –    1  tsp
cumin powder                                   –     1 tsp
mustard seeds                                   –      1/2 tsp
urad dhal                                           –     1/2 tsp

Method:

  • pressure cook papdi lilva(mochai payaru) for 1 whistle and keep it aside
  • in a pan heat oil and temper mustard seeds and urad dhal
  • add the garlic cloves and curry leaves
  • now fry the finely chopped onions until it turns gold
  • now add the tomatoes and after a minute put salt,chilli powder,turmeric and cumin powder
  • After it blends well add the pressure cooked papdi lilva(mochai payaru)
  • 
  • mix well and pour the tamarind juice and desired water
  • Cover with the lid and cook for 10- 15 minutes  until nice aroma comes out.
  • Serve with rice and  papad
  • serves  4
