Fish curry/meen kuzhambu
Ingredients:
Cat fish                            – 1 kg
(any fish can be used)
Tamarind paste               – 1tbsp
tomato                             -1
mustard seeds                 -1/2 tsp
fenugreek seeds               -1/4 tsp
small onions                   – 200g
curry leaves                    – few
green chillies                  -3
crushed garlic                 – 4 cloves
currychilli powder          – 2 tbsp
salt                                   – to taste
sesame oil                       -8 tbsp
For grinding:
onion                             – 1 cup
tomato                            – 1
ginger                             – little
garlic                              – 1 clove
shredded coconut           – 2 tbsp
Method:
- In a blender blend the ingredients into a fine paste and keep it aside.
- In a kadai add the curry chilli powder and fry it until it turns golden(do not burn it keep stiring)
- Mix a tamarind paste in a cup of water.
- Pour it into the kadai.
- Allow it to boil and add the ground paste and a crushed tomato
- Cook for 10-15 minutes and add 3 cups of water and allow it to boil and add fish to it.
- Simultaneously in another pan heat oil and allow mustard seeds to splutter.
- Add fenugreek seeds,curryleaves,crushed garlic,green chillies.

- Put the sliced small onions to it.
- let it turn golden.
- When the fish is almost done pour this tempering into it
- and cook until the fish is done
- Serve with Rice.
