Kohlrabi curry /nookol poriyal
Ingredients:
Kohlrabi          -3
Onion            -1/2 cup chopped
Mustard seeds      -1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds        -1/2 tsp
Turmeric          -little
Hing              -pinch
Whole red chili      -3
Salt              – to taste
Kashmiri chili powder-2 tsp
Fennel powder      -1/2 tsp
Cumin powder      -1 tsp
tamarind paste      -1/4 tsp
Oil              -1 tbsp
Cilantro           – to garnish
Method:
- In a pan heat oil and allow mustard seeds to splutter.Temper with cumin seeds,whole red chili,hing and turmeric.
- Add the chopped onions and fry until transparent.
- Put the fennel powder, kashmiri chili powder, cumin powder, salt.
- Now add the peeled and diced kohlrabi/nookol to it and stir fry for 3 minutes.
- In 1/2 cup of water mix the tamarind paste and pour it into the pan.Cover and cook until the kohlrabi is well done.Stir in occasionally.
- Serve as a side with Rice.
