Hey foodies and fellow travelers! I’ve got a cool food story to share with you – straight from my recent stop at Koorai Kadai Nandhini Mess near Tenkasi. Imagine this: we’re on our way to Courtallam, feeling hungry, and decide to check out a local spot recommended by some friendly folks at a small shop. They send us to the main branch just a short drive away, and after a bit of searching, we find it.

The place had a non-AC hall with interesting decorations on the walls. We couldn’t spot the AC section at first, but the staff took us through the busy kitchen to a cool rooftop area. It made sense – Koorai Kadai, the rooftop dining experience.
Now, here’s the exciting part. The owner himself comes over and guides us through the menu. We decide to try the special dosa with Swarathi – crunchy, mildly spiced, and served on banana leaves. Delicious! Then comes the curry dosa – hot dosa with mutton pieces and a side of plain salna. It felt like homemade goodness. We also dug into fish curry with viral mean fish – seriously one of the best curries we’ve had. And it went perfectly with the dosa.
Moving on to chapatis and Chettina chicken – they were big, soft, and a bit spicier than we expected. If you love spice, you’ll enjoy it! The parathas with kodal curry had a unique tangy flavor, and while the side served with the parathas was just okay, the overall experience was fantastic.
What really stood out was that every dish was served hot, and the prices were totally reasonable. The staff was super friendly, and we even got to see the live cooking of curry dosa and parathas. We left the place with happy bellies and smiles on our faces.
So, if you ever find yourself near Tenkasi or Courtallam, give Koorai Kadai Nandhini Mess a shot. It’s got that traditional vibe, yummy food, and won’t break the bank. Now, I’m curious – what’s your favorite comfort food when you’re on the road? Ever tried a unique dosa like Swarathi?
