MATAR PANEER

Matar Paneer is a classic Indian dish featuring soft paneer and vibrant peas simmered in a rich, aromatic tomato-based curry. A flavorful vegetarian delight that can be made just under 30 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Paneer -200 g
  • Matar/peas-1/2 cup
  • onion -2 sliced +1/2 choped
  • Tomato -3
  • oil – 2tbsp + 2 tbsp
  • cumin seeds -1/2 tsp
  • ginger garlic paste -1/2 tsp
  • salt- to taste
  • Coriander powder – 3 tsp
  • Kashmiri chili powder – 1 tbsp
  • Garam masala -1/2 tsp
  • Kasoori methi/dried fenugreek leaves -1/2 tsp
  • Cream – 3tbsp

Method:

  • To a heavy bottomed pan , add 2 tbsp of oil and saute 2 thinly sliced onions until golden brown
  • Then Add sliced tomatoes and saute until it turns mushy
  • Switch off the flame, let it cool off and blend it into a fine puree
  • To a heavy bottomed pan, add oil and temper with cumin seeds.
  • Add in ginger garlic paste and saute until raw flavor goes off.
  • Then put in the chopped onion and saute for a while
  • Pour in the blend puree , mix well .
  • Put in salt, chili powder, coriander powder , garam masala and mix well .
  • Cook until oil oozes on the side, then add crushed kasoori methi
  • Add cooked peas /frozen peas, paneer mix well
  • Pour in 11/2 cups of water , wait until it comes to a boil
  • Once it starts boiling simmer and cook covered for 10 minutes
  • After 10 minutes add fresh cream(optional) and switch off
  • Yummy matar Paneer is ready to serve
