Hello, foodies!
Welcome to another scrumptious episode of Bake n Make Snacks. Today, we’re diving into a recipe that brings together the best of both worlds—rich chocolatey goodness and wholesome health benefits. Say hello to the Ragi Choco Cake, a dessert that’s as delightful as it is nutritious.
Ragi, or finger millet, is a superfood that’s making its way into modern kitchens. It’s packed with calcium, fiber, and essential amino acids, making it a healthier alternative to refined flours. When combined with the irresistible flavor of chocolate, ragi takes on a whole new avatar, transforming into a guilt-free treat that you can enjoy anytime.
For this deliciously healthy cake, you’ll need:
Step 1: Preparing the Dry Ingredients
Start by mixing the dry ingredients. In a large bowl, combine 3/4 cup of ragi flour, 3/4 cup of wheat flour, 1/2 cup of cocoa powder, 2.5 teaspoons of baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Stir everything together until well combined.
Step 2: Preparing the Wet Ingredients
Next, move on to the wet ingredients. In a pot, bring 3/4 cup of water to a boil and add a teaspoon of coffee powder. Once the coffee is brewed, reduce the heat and stir in 3/4 cup of jaggery or sugar until fully dissolved. Add 6 tablespoons of melted butter to this mixture and stir until well combined. Let it cool slightly, then add 1/3 cup of curd, mixing well to create a smooth, homogenous mixture.
Step 3: Combining Wet and Dry Ingredients
Slowly add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring gently with a spatula. Mix in the same direction to avoid over-mixing, until you get a smooth, well-formed batter.
Step 4: Baking the Cake
Prepare a 10-inch round baking pan by greasing it with oil or butter. Pour the cake batter into the pan, spreading it evenly. For an extra touch of indulgence, you can sprinkle some chocolate chips on top.
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake the cake for about 25 to 28 minutes. To check if it’s done, insert a toothpick into the center—if it comes out clean, your cake is ready. Let the cake cool completely before slicing and serving.
What you’ll have is a rich, moist, and delicious Ragi Choco Cake that perfectly balances the deep, indulgent flavors of chocolate with the earthy, wholesome taste of ragi. It’s a treat that’s perfect for any occasion, whether you’re serving it as a dessert, a snack, or even a guilt-free indulgence with your morning coffee.
This cake is a testament to how healthy eating doesn’t mean compromising on taste. It’s a simple recipe that’s sure to become a favorite in your home. If you loved this recipe, don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe to Bake n Make Snacks for more episodes packed with delicious, healthy treats.
