Introduction:
Hello, foodies! Welcome back to Mellowbites! Today, we’re taking you to one of Bangalore’s vibrant food spots, Sri Udupi Food Hub in Gandhi Nagar. Perfect for a relaxed snack and tea time, this place offers a wide range of flavors that every food lover will enjoy. Here’s a rundown of our experience, the dishes we tried, and the memorable moments shared with friends.

Ambiance & Setting:
As we stepped into Sri Udupi Food Hub, we were greeted by a colorful display of dishes, from various dosa types to combo meals, allowing us to see what was on the menu. Though there was seating available downstairs, we decided to head upstairs for a cozier vibe. The place was decorated with quirky food quotes and warm, mild lighting, creating a calm and composed atmosphere. With a green-and-brick-themed decor, the place had an inviting, homely charm that set the perfect mood.
The Menu:
The menu here is a treat for vegetarians, featuring everything from dosa varieties, soups, and salads to tandoori starters, chaats, and curries, all priced between 40 and 400 rupees. We had a lot of options to choose from, so we picked a few classics that we knew would make our tea time memorable.
Food Adventure Begins:
Our first order, Mysore Masala Dosa, arrived steaming hot. While Bhargav thought it might be too heavy for snack time, I couldn’t miss the chance to enjoy this authentic dosa in Karnataka. He took the first bite and agreed – the flavors were absolutely worth it!
Then came two delightful chaats – Idli Fries and Udupi Special Chaat. Chaats always add an extra layer of fun to any gathering, and enjoying them with fellow foodies made it even more exciting. The Idli Fries, served with a delicious dip, had a unique taste and a texture that reminded us of chicken nuggets – simply mouth-watering.
Our next dish was Cheesy Pav Bhaji. Pav bhaji is my go-to comfort food, and this cheesy version didn’t disappoint. Dipping the soft pav into the rich, cheesy bhaji was a satisfying experience, adding a playful, nostalgic touch to our meal.
We also tried Vada Pav, often referred to as the Indian burger. To spice things up, Poorna challenged Bhargav to take a bite of the salted green chili served alongside it. Though he hesitated at first, he went for three big bites, all for the sake of the challenge! Shana added her own twist by pairing her Vada Pav with bhaji dip, adding an extra burst of flavor.
Tea Time Wrap-Up:
Since it was tea time, we couldn’t end without a round of tea and coffee, served in clay cups. The aroma and warmth of the drinks in earthy clay pots were the perfect way to finish our snack session.
Final Thoughts:
Our visit to Sri Udupi Food Hub was more than just a snack stop; it was a delightful journey filled with delicious food and the best company. If you’re in Bangalore and looking for a cozy spot with authentic flavors and a great vegetarian menu, Sri Udupi Food Hub is a must-visit. Whether you’re a fan of dosa, chaat, or pav bhaji, this place has something to satisfy every craving.
Thanks for joining us on this food journey! Until next time, happy eating!
