We had the delightful experience of exploring the grand buffet spread at GRT Grand Madurai during the Christmas and New Year holidays. It was truly a feast for the senses, and we are excited to take you on this gastronomic adventure, covering everything from starters to desserts and more. Get ready for a mouthwatering experience!
A good meal begins with a fresh start, and the salad section at GRT Grand did not disappoint. The grilled guava salad was a revelation—fresh, tangy guava slices perfectly grilled to bring out a smoky sweetness. The chickpea salad was hearty and protein-packed, while the couscous salad stood out with its fluffy texture and citrusy zing.
For those who love crafting their own salads, the buffet featured freshly cut vegetables and an assortment of dressings. The Caesar salad station was equally inviting, with crisp garlic bread, crunchy lettuce, and flavorful dressings. The cheese platter, paired with tiny pita bread, was an artful arrangement of creamy, sharp, and tangy cheeses.
Moving to the appetizers, the options were divine. The crispy okra fry was crunchy and addictive, while the ratatouille brimming with tangy tomato flavors and herbaceous vegetables was pure comfort food. The stuffed tamatar—juicy tomatoes stuffed with spiced fillings—was a standout dish.
Other delights included:
For soup lovers, the Tom Yum chicken soup was a must-try. Its bold, aromatic flavors—spicy, tangy, and slightly creamy—offered comfort in every spoonful.
Watching chefs expertly prepare dosas, aapams, parottas, and kuzhi paniyarams was pure joy. The aapams, paired with a velvety vegetable stew, were particularly memorable—light, fluffy, and absolutely divine.
The continental counter featured fresh pasta sauces made on the spot and pizzas baked in a wood-fired oven. The creamy pasta was indulgent with a rich, velvety sauce and perfectly al dente texture.
Adding to the fun was the cookie workshop corner, where Poorna enjoyed decorating cookies with colorful toppings—an interactive and playful experience!
The main course was a journey through diverse cuisines, featuring Indian delicacies and global flavors.
Finally, we arrived at the dessert counter, and it was nothing short of magical. The Indian section featured classics like gulab jamun and kheer, while the oriental-inspired pastries were visually stunning and delicious.
A major highlight was the live chocolate roll counter—watching the chocolate being poured, rolled, and served fresh was mesmerizing. Every dessert was a delight, bursting with extraordinary flavors that melted in the mouth.
From refreshing salads to mouthwatering appetizers, interactive live counters, and a lavish dessert spread, the GRT Grand Madurai buffet was a culinary adventure we will never forget. The calm, cozy lounge space added to the overall experience, making it truly special.
