When in Aruppukottai, one spot you simply shouldn’t miss is the Jam Jam Parotta Evening Stall — a humble yet bustling eatery serving some of the best street food around!
Recently, we visited this lively little place along with Shanthi aunty, who highly recommended it to us.
This wasn’t just a regular food review – we got to witness the making of every dish we ordered right in front of our eyes! It made the experience even more special.
We started our meal with the egg dosa, made fresh on the hot tawa. Poorna and Bhargav took their first bite without any accompaniments and found it delicious. Once dipped into the mild and flavorful salna, the taste elevated even more.
Next came a simple yet satisfying combination: an omelette sandwiched between layers of hot, flaky parottas. Bhargav enjoyed experimenting — eating the omelette and parotta separately first, then trying it with the salna. Every bite was pure comfort!
As we waited for the next dish, Bhargav even got a chance to try his hand at making a plain dosa! My mom paired her dosa with a serving of sambar — and loved it.
One of the real highlights was watching the making of the kothu parotta. The sound of the spatula clanging on the tawa, the rhythm of chopping, and the mixing of ingredients created an exciting, almost musical, atmosphere. Shanthi aunty, a regular visitor here, urged us to try it — and it was definitely worth it!
Finally, we watched the making of the Ceylon Egg Parotta — a huge, stuffed parotta, cut into perfect square pieces. It was crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside, and absolutely superb.
What stood out throughout the evening was not just the great food, but also the energy of the place — the smiles, the quick hands at work, the flavors in the air.
If you’re ever in Aruppukottai and looking for an authentic, heartwarming local food experience, Jam Jam Parotta Stall should definitely be on your list!
