🍽 Ingredients:
- 1 cup Kodo Millet (Varagu Arisi)
- ½ cup Moong Dal (Yellow split gram)
- 1 inch Fresh Ginger (crushed)
- 4 cups Water
- Salt – as required
- 7 tsp Ghee
- 2–3 tbsp Broken Cashews
- 1 tbsp Black Pepper (whole or slightly crushed)
- 1 tbsp Cumin Seeds

🧑🍳 Method:
- Mix and Wash: Combine Kodo millet and moong dal. Wash well and soak in water for 30 minutes.
- Pressure Cook: In a pressure cooker, add 4 cups of water. Drain and add the soaked millet and dal. Add salt and crushed ginger. Pressure cook for 3 whistles.
- Prepare Tempering: In a pan, heat 7 tsp ghee. Add broken cashews, sauté till golden. Add pepper, cumin, and curry leaves. Sauté for a minute and turn off.
- Combine: Add the tempering to the cooked pongal and mix thoroughly.
- Serve: Hot with sambar, coconut chutney, or plain curd.
