Pondicherry is often called the “French Riviera of the East,” and after our recent brunch experience in White Town, we completely understand why. During our trip, we visited a charming French-inspired restaurant nestled close to the beach, offering a perfect blend of French culinary traditions, coastal charm, and a peaceful dining atmosphere.
We visited the THE SPOT restaurant on a weekday for brunch. Since it wasn’t a weekend rush hour, the place was pleasantly quiet and almost empty. The calm surroundings immediately created a relaxing vibe, making it the perfect setting for a leisurely meal.
The interiors reflected a beautiful mix of French elegance and coastal simplicity. Every corner felt thoughtfully designed, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The peaceful ambience alone made us feel that we had discovered a hidden gem in White Town.
The menu featured an interesting combination of French and Indian dishes. While there were several tempting options, we couldn’t resist trying authentic French cuisine. After spending a few minutes exploring the menu and soaking in the ambience, we finalized our brunch choices.
While waiting for the food, we explored the restaurant further. One of the highlights was their wood-fired pizza setup, which comes alive during dinner service. Unfortunately, we visited during brunch hours and missed the opportunity to try it, but it certainly gave us another reason to return.
The restaurant’s location near the beach adds another layer of beauty to the experience. Stepping outside, we were greeted by bright sunshine, a cool sea breeze, and stunning coastal views.
The weekday tranquility meant there were very few people around, allowing us to fully enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Moments like these remind us why Pondicherry remains one of India’s most charming travel destinations.
Our first dish was the Mixed Seafood Salad.
At first glance, it looked fresh, colorful, and inviting. But the real surprise was hidden beneath the salad greens.
The dish featured:
The prawns were especially impressive due to their size and freshness. Every bite delivered a wonderful combination of textures and flavors. The dressing was mild, refreshing, and perfectly balanced, allowing the seafood to remain the star of the dish.
For seafood lovers, this salad is an absolute treat. The combination of different seafood varieties creates a unique and satisfying experience that keeps you coming back for more.
Our second dish was the famous Croque Monsieur.
For those unfamiliar with French cuisine, Croque Monsieur is a classic French sandwich traditionally made with ham and cheese, then baked or grilled until golden and crispy.
This version featured:
The sandwich looked irresistible from the moment it arrived at the table. The golden layer of melted cheese on top added both visual appeal and flavor.
The first bite was simply amazing. The creamy cheese, crispy pork, and soft bread blended beautifully together. Every mouthful was rich, comforting, and packed with flavor.
Without hesitation, we would rate this dish a solid 10/10.
What made this brunch special wasn’t just the food. It was the complete experience.
The combination of:
