Chana masala

Ingredients:

channa                            1 cup
onion                              2  ground to a fine paste
ginger garlic paste          2 tsp
tomato                             1 pureed
whole garam                    to temper
cumin seeds                     1 tsp
turmeric                           1 pinch
coriander powder             1 tbsp
cumin powder                   11/2 tsp
garam powder                    to sprinkle
chilli powder                      11/2 tsp
amchur powder                  1/2 tsp
cilantro                               to garnish
oil                                       2 tbsp


Method:

  • Soak channa overnight  or at least 5 hours.
  • pressure cook  channa  for 3 whistles
  • In kadai heat oil add whole garam and cumin seeds
  • add ginger garlic paste and turmeric
  • After the raw smell goes off pour the ground onion paste
  • Fry till the paste reduces and oil oozes out(until golden brown
  • Add pureed tomatoes  after a min start adding all spice powders and desired salt
  • cover the lid for 5 minutes.
  • add the  cooked chana and desired water according to the consistency you need for the gravy
  • cook it for 5 minutes and Garnish with cilantro
  • Serve with naan or chapathi
