Misir wat(ethiopian cuisine)

Ingredients:

toordal/masoor dal                – 1 cup
ethiopian berbere spice mix – 1 tbsp
onion                                     -11/2 cup finely chopped
Ginger garlic paste                -1 tsp
salt                                         -to taste
oil                                           -4tbsp approx

Method:

  • In a pot/kadai add liberal amount of oil.

  • Add onions to it and fry until it turns golden

  • Add the ginger garlic paste and fry until the raw flavour goes off.

  • Add 4 cups of water.

  • Add the washed dal and cover the  lid and cook on medium for 30-35 minutes until the dal is completely done.


  • Now add the salt and stir well.

  • Serve with Injera(*traditional ethiopian bread)or chapathi/paratha.
