Kumar Mess: Authentic South Indian Non-Veg Delights

Hey foodies! Let me tell you about my recent visit to Kumar Mess in Madurai. Imagine a lively weekend with friends, all craving some authentic South Indian non-veg dishes. We decided to try out Kumar Mess on Bypass Road, and it turned out to be quite an adventure!

As we walked into the first-floor restaurant, we couldn’t help but notice the vibrant traffic of Madurai from our waiting area. After a 10-minute wait, we finally got our seats in the cool AC hall. The menu was like a foodie’s dream, offering everything from chicken and mutton to pigeon, quail, fish, and seafood delights like crab and prawns, with prices ranging from 50 to 400 rupees.

Now, let’s talk about the exciting part – deciding what to order. The waiter was super helpful, guiding us through the extensive menu and suggesting some specials. We were really keen on trying the crab, but they had only a few pieces left. Still, they served us a small portion of crab curry, and it was delicious with a nice pepper flavor. Bhargav, one of my friends, was thrilled about it.

Moving on, we decided to explore the world of crab omelette, a Madurai favorite. It didn’t disappoint, offering a perfect mix of flavors. We also tried a regular omelette, which felt just like the homemade ones. Curiosity led us to order idli with neymeen kulambu, and it was a delightful combination that just melted in our mouths.

The mutton biryani, made with seeraha samba, was a highlight, but some mutton pieces were a bit tough. The biryani was good, but it would have been perfect if all the mutton pieces were tender. They also served chalna for mutton biryani, adding an extra burst of flavor.

Now, let me introduce you to the star – the mutton curry dosa. It’s a Madurai specialty, and Kumar Mess nailed it. One dosa was enough to satisfy our hunger! And for chicken lovers, the nattu kozhi chops with dosa were a treat. The chicken was tender, and the chops were full of flavor. The only thing missing was the crispiness we expected from the dosa – it turned out a bit softer than we hoped.

Now, about the vibe – the place had bright lighting, a lovely ambience, and the smell of authentic South Indian non-veg dishes. Despite a bit of a wait for our food, the overall satisfaction made it worthwhile. Kumar Mess is definitely a great spot for those craving genuine South Indian non-veg delights.

To all the food lovers, especially those who love to travel, if you find yourself in Madurai, give Kumar Mess a try. It might take a bit of patience, but the flavors and the experience are totally worth it. And don’t forget to subscribe to our channel for more exciting food journeys!
