Copper Kitchen Coimbatore Review – Rave Reviews but Disappointing Food?

When you see a restaurant packed with people and glowing Google reviews, expectations naturally go high. That’s exactly what happened when we visited Copper Kitchen in Coimbatore during our recent trip.

The restaurant was brightly lit, beautifully designed, and completely crowded. Every table was occupied, and there were even people waiting. Naturally, we were excited. A crowded restaurant usually signals great food, right?

Let’s break down our full experience.

Ambience & First Impressions

The ambience was impressive — warm lighting, neat seating, and a vibrant dining atmosphere. Service was prompt enough to get us seated quickly despite the rush.

The menu looked promising, especially the visually appealing Mandi Biryani Feast images. The photos were mouthwatering and immediately triggered our cravings.

They also had interesting clay pot layered dishes like:

  • Mutton Nalli Rice
  • Varutha Koli Biryani
  • Manchatti Parotta
  • Pal Kappa Fish Curry

Everything sounded amazing on paper.

Dish 1: Nattu Koli Saaru (Country Chicken Soup)

Country chicken is often believed to be healthier and richer in flavor than broiler chicken. The soup arrived piping hot with visible chicken pieces and curry leaves.

But taste-wise?

It lacked depth. It felt diluted — almost like curry mixed heavily with water. The flavor didn’t excite us. It was very average and not something we would reorder.

Dish 2: Pomegranate Waldorf Salad

We were quite excited about this because Waldorf salad is one of our favorites. However:

  • The quantity was very small
  • Fruit cuts were too large
  • Dressing was not balanced

It didn’t deliver the creamy, crunchy, sweet-tangy combination a proper Waldorf salad should have.

Another average dish.

At this point, we were slightly worried.

Dish 3: Chicken Mandi Biryani

This was the main attraction.

It was served beautifully in a large bowl with side dishes. Presentation was decent. But once we opened it, disappointment set in.

Observations:

  • Very small piece of chicken
  • Rice had no vibrant color
  • No noticeable aroma
  • Chicken was rubbery and slightly hard
  • Rice tasted bland

Even when paired with pickled onions, the flavor didn’t improve.

For the first time ever, we left biryani unfinished on the plate.

That says everything.

The Bill

  • Pomegranate Waldorf
  • Chicken Mandi
  • Nattu Koli Soup

Total: ₹860

Considering the taste and quality, it did not feel worth it.

Final Verdict

Despite the crowd and positive online ratings, our experience at Copper Kitchen Coimbatore was disappointing.

Food: ⭐⭐☆☆☆
Ambience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Value for Money: ⭐⭐☆☆☆

Would we revisit? Probably not for mandi biryani.

However, every experience can differ. Have you had a better experience here? Let us know in the comments!
