When we travel and eat outside, we all long for food that gives us a homemade feel. During our visit to Madurai, we discovered Ayyama Samayal, a catering service known for its authentic home-cooked flavors. They were kind enough to arrange a special dine-in experience for us to review their food.
Hi foodies! We are Bhargav, Poorna, and Deepa, and today we are in Madurai to try the delicious food at Ayyama Samayal. Our visit was inspired by two reasons:
Ayyama Samayal offers a variety of authentic South Indian non-vegetarian dishes, and we ordered some of their specialties:
Poorna loves Mutton Biryani, and she was excited to try this version. The biryani here is made with seeraga samba rice, unlike the usual basmati, giving it a unique texture and taste. The flavors were mild yet delicious, reminiscent of homemade biryani.
The Nattu Koli (country chicken) Pepper Fry was a delight. It had a strong peppery kick, and the chicken was soft and well-cooked, just like homemade food.
This dish turned out to be the highlight! Poorna loved it even more than the biryani. The aroma and flavors were something we hadn’t experienced before. It had the perfect balance of spices, making it a must-try dish at Ayyama Samayal.
The Prawn Thokku was packed with tomato flavor, and the prawns were juicy and well-cooked. The slight spiciness enhanced the dish, making it a great choice for seafood lovers.
Ending our meal with Kambu Kool and dried fish curry (Nei Meen Karuvadu Poriyal) was the best decision. The salty and tangy flavors were simply unbeatable!
After our meal, we had a conversation with the owner of Ayyama Samayal. He shared insights about the inspiration behind starting this catering service and their focus on serving fresh, homemade food. We also asked if there were any plans to open a restaurant in the future, and we are eagerly looking forward to it!
If you’re visiting Madurai, make sure to try Ayyama Samayal. The food is absolutely delicious, and you’ll get the comfort of home-cooked meals while traveling.
