Finding a great vegetarian spot with a scenic view can be a delight, and Mug & Beans, located in Moolakarai, offers just that. This bi-level open-air café boasts a beautiful view of Thirupuragundram temple from its terrace. The pathway to the terrace is adorned with cool and fancy paintings, adding a vibrant charm to the ambiance.
We tried a variety of dishes from their menu, and here’s our take on them:
We started with the Paneer Burger, which had a big, thick slice of paneer paired with spicy green chutney. However, the bun was too flaky, and we felt they could have served more fries on the side for better value.
Next, we ordered the Pink Sauce Pasta. The sauce base was on the sweeter side, and we felt it could have been improved with more colorful veggies to enhance the taste and presentation.
The Paneer Tikka Sizzler was served on a sizzling hot plate with fried rice and potato wedges. The fried rice was spicy and flavorful, and the potato wedges were crispy and tasty. However, the paneer tikka itself lacked flavor and was quite bland.
For beverages, we ordered Ginger Tea, which was served hot and had the perfect blend of spice, making it a refreshing choice.
For dessert, we tried Fried Ice Cream with Choco Sauce. The portion was too big, and the fried outer layer tasted average, not quite meeting our expectations.
One downside of our experience was the slow service. They took a really long time to serve each dish, so if you visit hungry, your patience will definitely be tested. The pricing is on the higher side, making it more of a premium vegetarian dining option.
Overall, Mug & Beans is a great spot for vegetarian global eats, especially if you’re looking for a relaxed, open-air dining experience with a scenic view. While some dishes were impressive, others had room for improvement. If you’re in Moolakarai, it’s worth a visit!
