Hi foodies, welcome to Mellow Bites! Today, we are at Shree Anandas, one of the most famous chain restaurants, for a delicious South Indian breakfast. We are visiting the Vadavalli, Coimbatore branch, and we can’t wait to dive into their breakfast specialties!

First Impressions – Ambience & Special Menu
As we entered the restaurant at 8 a.m., we noticed a special menu board displaying their morning delicacies. While everything looked tempting, we decided to pick just one dish from this special menu. The ambience was brightly lit, spacious, and clean, creating the perfect atmosphere for a great breakfast experience. The restaurant offered a regular South Indian breakfast menu, including idli, pongal, poori, vada, dosa, and a variety of specialty dosas like masala dosa, ghee roast, and onion uttapam.
Our Breakfast Choices – Idli, Pongal, Chola Puri & Ghee Roast
- Idli & Sambar: Poorna started her breakfast with two idlis served with sambar and coconut chutney. The idlis were soft, fluffy, and perfectly steamed. She loved them!
- Ven Pongal Challenge: My brother opted for ven pongal, and we gave him a challenge – he had to eat it without showing any expression. The pongal was soft and gliding smoothly, and he struggled to keep a straight face. It was a fun moment for all of us!
- Vada & Pongal Combo: My dad had a different approach – he paired his crispy, golden vada with pongal by breaking it into pieces and mixing it together. Everyone has their unique way of relishing food, and my dad’s style was interesting to watch!
- Chola Puri & Chole Masala: Bhargav ordered the special menu item – chola puri. The puris were medium-sized and piping hot, and he loved the delicious aroma of the chole masala. He wasted no time and dug in immediately, thoroughly enjoying every bite.
- Ghee Roast Dosa: My mom and I both ordered ghee roast dosa, and it arrived in a beautifully cone-shaped presentation. South Indian dosas are always special, and I tried handling mine like a pro. I enjoyed every crispy bite with sambar, and the taste was super yummy!
The Mystery Chutney & Ending with Coffee
On our table, there was a special tangy chutney in a separate container. I was curious and decided to try it. The chutney was a mix of tangy, sweet, and spicy flavors, and I couldn’t guess what it was. When I asked the staff, they revealed it was tomato chutney, possibly their specialty!
To end our meal, we had a hot cup of coffee. I ordered one and split it with Bhargav because I prefer sharing my coffee. It was the perfect way to wrap up our breakfast experience.
