Kothu Mutton masala

 

Ingredients:

Mutton                   –    200 g
onion                      –   1/2
Tomato                  –    1/2
ginger garlic paste-     1 tsp
fennel seeds            –   1 tsp
Turmeric                 –    1/4 tsp
Pudhina/mint          –   4 leaves
Cilantro                  –   few
coriander powder    –  2 tsp
chilli powder           –  11/2 tsp
garam masala           –  1 tsp
salt                            –   to taste
oil                             –   1 tsp

 

For Grinding:

Shredded coconut     – 2 tbsp
cashews                     – 6 whole
 

Method:

  • In a pressure cooker , pressure cook  mutton with salt,chilli powder,turmeric upto 6 whistles until mutton is tender
  • Now remove from the cooker and make it into fine spices by chopping it with a spoon(thats why we call it kothu mutton)
  • Grind the shredded coconut and cashews into a fine paste adding 3tbsp of water
  • In a pan heat oil and temper with the fennel seeds
  •  
  • Add the ginger garlic paste and fry until the raw flavour goes off
  •  
  • Now add the onions and fry until it turns transparent
  • put the chopped cilantro and pudhina/mint to it

  • After a minute add the finely chopped tomatoes

  • Add the salt,chilli powder,corianader powder and garam masala
  • Mix well until it gets blend and now Put the kothu mutton and saute it well

  • After two minutes add the ground masala and desired water and allow it to cook for another 10 minutes or until the gravy thickens


  • Serve with Rice or Dosa or Idli
