A Feast to Remember: Sri Mohan Bhojanalya Chronicles

Hey there, amazing foodies and fellow travelers! So, picture this – after soaking in the divine vibes of Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple, we were on the hunt for some legit North Indian vegetarian grub. Lucky for us, Sri Mohan Bhojanalya was just a stone’s throw away from the temple.

Now, let me take you on a little chat about our culinary journey. We stroll into this cozy place upstairs, and the vibe is simple, yet inviting. The walls are practically a North Indian menu mural – extensive and promising.

But before we dive into the Deluxe Thali adventure, they set the stage with some random cut onions, veg salad, cut green chillies, and this zesty green chutney. Ever had a pre-Thali paneer pakoda? Ours was not just tasty, but a mountain of it at a steal of a price.

Okay, now, the Deluxe Dolly makes its grand entrance. First up, a tangy tomato shorba – a tad tanky but good. Then, brace yourself for the masala puppet – a desi pizza vibe that’s salty and addictive.

The Thali spread hits the table – bindi curry, khadi, dhal, chana masala, onion tomato sabji, masala aloo, gulabjamun, butter paneer masala, yogurt, and not one but two fluffy phulka rotis. Oh, the phulka rotis with creamy butter paneer masala were pure heaven.

Chapatis follow suit, and they dance with a delicious dal. Soft, delicate, and oh-so-authentic – that’s how we like our bread!

Time for some saada parathas, flaky and paired with simple onion tomato sabji – simplicity at its best. Next up, rice joins the party, teaming up with khadi and bindi curry – authentic and bursting with flavors.

Pooris are puffy delights with good chana masala, and the masala aloo gives it a run for its money. Aloo parathas enter the scene, and we suspect they share stuffing with masala aloo – a tasty duo.

Cumin rice surprises us with cashews in every scoop – unexpected and delightful. Now, dessert time – kheer and gulabjamun. The kheer was sweet magic, but the gulabjamun was a bit shy on the softness.

They even throw in a scoop of vanilla ice cream to seal the deal. All this for just 500 bucks – a feast that’s easy on the pocket.

Overall, it’s a budget-friendly spot with a fresh, authentic vibe. If I could wish for one thing, a little extra hygiene front would make it perfect. Hope you enjoyed this chat about our food escapade. Until next time, happy munching!
