Absolute Barbecue Adventure: Hits and Misses

Hey foodies! So, this weekend we decided to check out Absolute Barbecue in T Nagar, Chennai. Excitement levels were high for a fantastic barbecue-grilled feast. As we stepped in, the place was bustling, and we snagged a seat right by the live BBQ counter.

Surprise, surprise! Absolute Barbecue turned out to be an all-you-can-eat buffet spot. We were initially bummed since we couldn’t order individual dishes. Nevertheless, we rolled with it and opted for the veg buffet.

Let’s talk about the grilled veggies. Cheesy potato was decent, but the green tikki? Total letdown. It was hard as a rock, and the taste? Not great. Paneer varieties were hit and miss – malai paneer and paneer tikka looked good, but the paneer itself was oddly rubbery. The saving grace? Watermelon sticks. They were the only things we’d go back for.

Now, the language struggle! The staff mainly spoke Hindi, leaving us a bit lost. Navigating a buffet menu with a language barrier – not the smoothest experience, I’ll tell you that.

Onto the buffet spread. Soups, bread, Indian and Chinese curries – they had it all. Manchurian balls, malai kofta curry, kadai paneer, and some southern-inspired gravies. Creamy butter paneer masala was a winner, though.

Main course? Veg biryani, fried rice – standard fare. And the dessert corner? A sweet tooth’s dream.

But, here’s the kicker – the place was suffocating! The lack of ventilation had us feeling like we were dining in a sauna. Not the vibe we were going for. Despite the rave reviews online, our experience was a bit of a letdown.

Imagine if they had better airflow, more informed staff, and tastier food – that would’ve been a game-changer! So, there you have it – our adventure at Absolute Barbecue. Share your thoughts, fellow foodies! Ever had a dining experience that didn’t quite live up to the hype?
