Hotel Mubarak Trivandrum – A Seafood Lover’s Paradise!

Introduction

Hi foodies! Welcome to Mellow Bites. Today, we’re taking you on a delightful seafood adventure in Trivandrum! If you love authentic Kerala fish meals, then Hotel Mubarak is a must-visit. This restaurant is famous for its fish meals, especially the prawn roast and tuna roast. Though finding the place was a bit tricky, the effort was totally worth it!

Finding the Restaurant

Hotel Mubarak is located a bit interior in Trivandrum, with narrow streets leading up to it. Thanks to the friendly locals, we were able to find our way. The restaurant is on the first floor, and even before stepping in, the aroma of delicious seafood filled the air, making us even more excited for our meal.

Ambience & Crowd

Once inside, we realized just how popular this place is—it was packed! Finding a seat was a challenge, but we managed to grab one after a short wait. The restaurant had a local, no-frills dining vibe, where the focus is entirely on the food.

The Meal Experience

As soon as we sat down, we were served food on banana leaves, which is a traditional Kerala style of serving meals. The meal began with vegetables, pickles, and sides, followed by a choice of prawn roast or tuna roast.

Guess what? We couldn’t decide between the two, so we tried both!

• Kerala Rice: The meal included hot Kerala rice, which is large-grained and slightly dry. While some might find it difficult to eat, we are quite used to it and love its nutritious value.
• Fish Curry: A flavorful fish curry with chunks of fish and potatoes was served on the table. It had an amazing blend of tamarind and coconut flavors, making it rich and tangy.
• Prawn Fry: The prawn fry was an absolute showstopper—crispy, packed with flavors, and fried to perfection in coconut oil. We loved it so much that we ordered two more plates!
• Tuna Fry: The tuna fry came in huge chunks, almost like meat. It was coated with chili flakes and roasted coconut, making it spicy, unique, and incredibly delicious.
• Vegetable Stew: They also served a vegetable stew cooked in coconut milk, which was creamy and went well with the rice.
• Rasam: They had rasam, but we missed buttermilk, which we usually like to end our meals with.

Self-Service & Cleanliness

An interesting part of the experience is that after finishing our meal, we had to clean our table by removing our banana leaves and placing them in the trash. While the food was top-notch, the only downsides were the overcrowding and the need for better hygiene maintenance.
