Bangalore is a paradise for food lovers, and when the sun sets, the city’s streets transform into a vibrant hub of sizzling delicacies, tempting aromas, and nostalgic treats. We set out on an evening food trail to explore, savor, and capture some of the best street foods the city has to offer. So, grab a virtual bite and join us on this flavorful journey!
We kicked off our food adventure with a local favorite—Madur Vada. Crispy, golden, and packed with flavor, this deep-fried delight was the perfect way to start our evening. But what caught our attention next was something unique—Capsicum Vada! Imagine a whole capsicum dipped in spiced batter, deep-fried to perfection, and then cut into quarters. The best part? It was topped with fresh chutney, a sprinkle of spice powder, finely chopped onions, and grated carrots, adding a perfect crunch and burst of flavor.
Next, we made our way to watch the making of Holige, also known as Poli in different regions. This traditional South Indian sweet is made by stuffing soft dough with a delicious filling of sweetened dhal or coconut and then rolling it out and roasting it on a hot griddle. Watching the process was as delightful as tasting it! We couldn’t resist grabbing a plate of sweet coconut Holige, and let’s just say—it was pure bliss!
While exploring, we stumbled upon a small shop selling nostalgic 90s snacks—those childhood favorites that instantly took us down memory lane. Do you remember those pocket-friendly treats that were once the highlight of every school break? Take a look at our finds and drop a comment if you recognize any of these classic munchies!
Our next stop featured Masala Papad, a simple yet flavorful snack. A crispy papad, topped with onions, tomatoes, spices, and a squeeze of lemon, it was a crunchy explosion of flavors! And call us crazy, but at that moment, it felt like the Indian version of a thin-crust pizza—a silly thought, but hey, foodies think differently!
No food walk is complete without something warm and comforting. We spotted a stall serving hot Badam Milk, simmering away in a large pot. And guess what? They had an irresistible selection of desserts to pair with it—Jalebi, Chiroti, and Pheni! We went for Pheni, a crispy, delicate treat that they soaked into the rich, nutty badam milk, making it taste absolutely divine.
From the theatrics of Nitrogen Ice Cream to the skillful flipping of Roomali Roti, our food walk continued with one delightful discovery after another. Watching street food being made is truly an art, and we made sure to capture every mesmerizing moment for you!
Our Bangalore street food exploration was a night to remember, filled with flavors, textures, and nostalgic bites. If you ever find yourself in Bangalore, these are some must-try street foods! So, tell us—which of these delicious treats would you love to try first? And if you’ve already been here, drop a comment and let us know your favorite! Stay tuned for more food adventures, and until next time, keep exploring and keep savoring!
